To make a chocolate collagen latte, brew 8 to 10 oz of hot coffee and stir in two scoops of VitalCollagen Choco Bliss. Then froth half a cup of milk and pour it on top. It takes about five minutes. Each latte gets 20 g of collagen peptides and 18 g of protein from the creamer.

Why put collagen in your latte

Collagen is easy to forget when it is a separate step. Folding it into the coffee you already make each morning turns it into a habit that sticks.

Collagen is a family of proteins. MedlinePlus, from the US National Library of Medicine, explains that collagens strengthen and support many tissues in the body, including cartilage, bone, tendon and skin. Food is still the foundation for protein. A collagen latte adds to a balanced diet, but it does not replace one.

What is in VitalCollagen Choco Bliss

VitalCollagen Choco Bliss is a chocolate collagen creamer made with hydrolyzed collagen peptides (types I and III) from grass-fed bovine hide. A two-scoop serving (27 g) has 90 calories, 20 g of collagen peptides and 18 g of protein. It also has 3 g of carbohydrates, 2 g of fiber and 0 g of sugars. It is flavored with cocoa powder and natural flavor, and sweetened with stevia leaf extract (Reb A).

Hydrolyzed means the collagen has already been broken into small pieces, called peptides. That is why it mixes into a hot drink instead of clumping on top. For serving size, timing and other drinks to use, see How to Take Collagen Peptides.

Ingredients

  • 8 to 10 oz of hot brewed coffee, or 1 to 2 shots of espresso topped up with hot water
  • 2 scoops of VitalCollagen Choco Bliss
  • Half a cup of milk: dairy, oat, almond or soy all work
  • Optional: a pinch of cinnamon or a dusting of cocoa powder

How to make it in five minutes

  1. Brew the coffee. Make 8 to 10 oz of coffee straight into a large mug.
  2. Add the creamer. Stir in two scoops of Choco Bliss while the coffee is hot. Stir for 10 to 15 seconds, or use a handheld frother, until no streaks remain.
  3. Froth the milk. Warm the milk, then froth it with a handheld frother, a lidded jar you shake hard, or a few seconds in a blender.
  4. Pour and finish. Pour the milk over the coffee, spooning the foam on top. Finish with cinnamon or cocoa if you like.

Tips for a smooth latte

  • Add the creamer to the hot coffee before the milk. It dissolves faster in hot liquid.
  • Pour the coffee first, then add the powder, so it does not stick to the bottom of the mug.
  • If you see a few specks, give it a few more seconds with the frother.
  • Warm your mug with hot water first if you like your latte to stay hot longer.

Ways to change it up

Iced chocolate collagen latte

Stir the two scoops into a small splash of hot coffee until smooth. Pour it over ice, then add cold coffee and cold milk. You can also blend everything with ice. The Choco Bliss directions suggest a shaker cup or blender for cold drinks.

Mocha style

Use two shots of espresso instead of brewed coffee for a stronger, richer cup.

Afternoon version

Use decaf coffee if you want a latte later in the day. The rest of the recipe stays the same.

Dairy-free

Oat milk froths well and gives a creamy result. Almond and soy milk work too.

What a latte adds up to

The creamer brings 90 calories, 20 g of collagen peptides and 18 g of protein to your cup. The milk adds its own calories and protein, which depend on the type you use. Check your milk's Nutrition Facts label for those numbers.

What to look for on a collagen creamer label

  • Serving size. Check how many scoops make a serving and how many grams that is. For every VitalCollagen flavor, a serving is two scoops.
  • Collagen per serving. Look for the amount of collagen peptides in grams, not just the word "collagen."
  • Source and type. The label should say where the collagen comes from. VitalCollagen uses grass-fed bovine hide, with types I and III.
  • Sugars. Check total sugars and added sugars. Choco Bliss has 0 g of sugars.
  • Other ingredients. These tell you what gives the flavor, the sweetness and the texture.

Other VitalCollagen creamers to try

Vanilla Cream

VitalCollagen Vanilla Cream pairs collagen peptides with medium-chain triglycerides (MCT), pea protein, natural flavor and stevia for a creamy vanilla latte. A two-scoop serving (20 g) has 70 calories and 0 g of sugars, plus 560 mg of calcium.

Unflavored

VitalCollagen Unflavored has one ingredient: hydrolyzed collagen peptides from grass-fed bovine hide. A two-scoop serving (20 g) has 20 g of collagen peptides, 18 g of protein, 70 calories and 0 g of sugars. It keeps your coffee tasting like coffee. Collagen Creamer vs Collagen Peptides explains how a creamer differs from plain collagen powder.

All three creamers are part of the Glow collection and The Radiance Ritual. Nuvazen products are made in FDA-registered, GMP-compliant facilities, with a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for every product.

Make it part of your morning

The easiest habit is one you already have. If you make coffee most mornings, add your scoops at the same moment each day. Keep the tub next to the coffee so you see it.

Store the tub in a cool, dry place away from direct light, with the lid closed tight, as the label says.

Who should check with a doctor first

VitalCollagen comes from bovine (beef) hide. It is not suitable for vegetarians, vegans or anyone who avoids beef. If you are pregnant or nursing, have a medical condition or take prescription medicines, talk to your doctor before you add it to your routine.

Frequently asked questions

Can I make it iced?

Yes. Dissolve the creamer in a splash of hot coffee first, then pour it over ice with cold coffee and milk. A shaker cup or blender also works well.

Does Choco Bliss have sugar?

No. A two-scoop serving has 0 g of sugars. It is sweetened with stevia leaf extract (Reb A).

How many scoops should I use?

Two scoops make one serving. Mix them into 8 to 10 oz of coffee or your favorite drink.
